The Solidigm P41 Plus NVMe SSD offers good everyday performance at a super affordable price. While it may not be the fastest PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD on the market, it is easily fast enough for most users. The older design of the P41 Plus couldn’t keep up with newer SSDs in synthetic benchmarks, but it performed well in real-world transfer tests, especially with smaller data sets.
The P41 Plus features a host memory bus (HMB) PCIe 4.0 x4 design that utilizes device memory for primary caching duties. It is equipped with a SMI SM2269XT controller addressing 144-layer QLC NAND and is available in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities. While Solidigm offers a five-year warranty on the P41 Plus, it has a relatively low 400TBW (terabytes that can be written before the drive wears out) per-terabyte rating, which is typical for QLC SSDs.
At the time of writing, the prices for the P41 Plus on Amazon were $37.50 for the 512GB model, $69.99 for the 1TB model, and $106.75 for the 2TB model, making it among the lowest-priced PCIe 4.0 drives available.
In performance tests, the P41 Plus didn’t perform as well in synthetic benchmarks but excelled in 48GB transfers. It fell behind in the 450GB write test but still maintained respectable performance in real-world transfer tests.
Overall, the P41 Plus may not have the flashiest performance numbers, but it offers good everyday performance at an unbeatable price point. For users on a budget who don’t transfer large amounts of data regularly, the P41 Plus is a solid choice.
