Unveiling the Asus ROG Flow Z13 (2023) Laptop: Is it a Game-Changer or an Unconventional Choice?

It’s not the best tablet. However, this gaming-focused PC wins on performance per ounce and stands out in the PC industry. That’s why this Asus ROG Flow Z13 is an odd critter. It’s a 2-in-1 design that’s a gamified Surface device. Our review unit came equipped with an Intel Core i7-13900H CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage. It also has a 13.4-inch 16:10 WQXGA (2560×1600) IPS touchscreen display with a 165Hz refresh rate and stylus support. When it comes to design and build quality, the ROG Flow Z13 leans into the stereotypical gaming PC design, with its metal build, wild-looking fan vents, and unnecessary branding. The tablet’s magnetically-attached keyboard has a felt exterior and can be ripped off the device or folded onto its back. The device also has an abundance of ports, including a Thunderbolt 4 port, USB-A, a 3.5mm headset jack, and the latest Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless hookups. The included keyboard cover has RGB-backlit keys and a big trackpad. The display is a 13.4-inch, 3:2 screen with a great resolution, punchy colors, and a touchscreen for tablet use. It also has a 13MP webcam and mediocre speakers. The device has a 20-thread Intel Core i9-13900H chip for powerful CPU performance and an Nvidia RTX 4060 for good gaming performance. It seems odd for a device of this class, but the graphics performance is plenty spicy for powering AAA games. Overall, the ROG Flow Z13 is a winner in the gaming-focused PC market.
