At CES 2024, I saw an innovative motherboard at the Asus booth that solves a common PC issue. Asus has introduced a feature on its new Z790 motherboards that indicates whether your RAM is properly inserted with a tiny orange LED light next to the DIMM slots. This helps prevent support calls and troubleshooting headaches that arise from improperly seated RAM.
The LED light tells you at a glance whether your memory modules are inserted correctly. It also indicates that your GPU, RAM, graphics card, and storage are all working properly during startup. This feature is part of Asus’ focus on quality-of-life improvements in its motherboards, alongside other features like a PCIe quick-release button and a “Q-Latch” that secures M.2 SSDs without additional tools. These features are available in every Asus Z790 refresh ROG and TUF motherboard announced since last Computex.
This simple innovation addresses a longstanding issue for PC builders and could save valuable time and effort during DIY adventures. Stay tuned to PCWorld for more coverage of CES 2024!
