If you’re anything like me, it’s difficult to resist the appeal of adding more monitors to your workspace. This is why I was excited to see The Portable Monitor’s new five-screen portable configuration at CES 2024.
A contact had convinced me to try FOPO’s triple-display monitor about a year ago, and I was immediately intrigued. I was hoping to see something similar from The Portable Monitor, and I wasn’t disappointed with their offering.

The Portable Monitor has introduced a pair of 14-inch, 1080p displays called the Flex, available for $469 on their website or Amazon. They also offer a 15.6-inch version for $569, and a plastic version for $369. Additionally, they have the Twins, a $499 dual-display version of the Flex with screens that can flip vertically, creating an array similar to the Asus ZenBook Duo.
According to executives, the Flex was designed not to attach directly to your laptop, addressing concerns from owners of thinner notebooks about potential screen damage. Instead, the displays operate as standalone units, each connecting to your laptop via a USB-C cable.
While I had initially thought that The Portable Monitor had a single five-screen solution, it turns out that the four additional displays are created from a combination of the Flex and the Twins. Though it requires two separate setups and cables, it’s possible to achieve a five-screen display if needed.
