AMD has bet big on AI in an effort to increase chip output, according to chief executive Dr. Lisa Su. Su stated that AI will soon become ubiquitous and highlighted numerous ways in which it is being utilized within the company.
AI is used at AMD for designing chips, improving productivity, and enhancing various processes such as HR, finance, and customer service. Su emphasized the importance of training AI models properly to prevent bias.
Regarding GPU supply, Su assured the audience that AMD would ramp up production to meet increasing demand. She also mentioned using AI tools like Microsoft Copilot to manage her schedule and tasks.
Su discussed the future of AI, noting that inference, rather than training, will become more prevalent, especially at the edge. She emphasized the need for focus in order for AMD to excel in building high-performance computing products.
When asked to describe herself in one word, Su described herself as a “doer” and shared career lessons she has learned as both an engineer and a business manager. Additionally, she revealed her workout routine and preference for golf over F1 racing.
