Step 1: Verify that Windows Hello is set up
If you already use a PIN, fingerprint, or facial recognition to sign in to your Windows PC, you can proceed to Step 2. Make sure Windows Hello is available in Google Password Manager settings.
In the Windows 10 or 11 start menu, search for sign-in options to check for Windows Hello support.
Note: Setting up any Windows Hello method allows you to log into your PC securely. Consider using a PIN code if you have concerns about biometric options.
Step 2: Head to Chrome’s settings
In Chrome, go to Settings > Autofill and Passwords > Google Password Manager and select Settings from the left navigation bar.
You can also enter chrome://password-manager/settings in a Chrome tab’s address bar.
Step 3: Turn on Windows Hello protection
In Google Password Manager settings, activate Use Windows Hello when filling passwords. Authenticate the change with your PIN or other Windows Hello method. A pop-up window will appear for verification before Chrome fills in login info.

How to further protect your passwords
Enhance security by using a separate password manager instead of relying solely on Google. Paid options offer additional features like emergency access, advanced two-factor authentication, and easier sharing. These managers integrate with your devices for seamless credential management.
If you prefer using Chrome as your password manager, ensure your Google account is secure with a strong password and two-factor authentication. Consider using antivirus software like Avast One for added protection against malicious apps.
