AMD has been using the AM4 processor socket for its Ryzen CPUs for the past five years, and now with the AM5 socket debuting, the company plans to continue this longevity. According to the latest roadmaps, AM5 will be used through 2025 at the very least and possibly beyond.
In a recent video interview, AMD’s David McAfee confirmed the company’s commitment to support the AM5 socket through 2025 and beyond. He emphasized that the decision to move to a next generation of socket will be carefully considered, and even left the door open for a longer window of support. This is good news for those who have recently purchased or are planning to purchase B650 or X670 motherboards for the latest Ryzen processors.
