Exploring Microsoft’s February Windows 11 Update: A Closer Look at the Changes

The most recent “Moment” update to Windows 11 may be the last build, with minor changes for American PC users. In the European Economic Area, users will have more options to configure Windows due to Microsoft’s compliance with the Digital Markets Act. Microsoft is releasing two Windows 11 builds and the “February Windows Configuration Update.” The update will be a small patch delivered to PCs for free, and will be available in a few weeks.

To get the new Moment, go to Settings, then to the Windows Update page, and turn on “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available.” Microsoft has identified several features within the new Windows 11 February 2024 Moment: Copilot, Snipping Tool, game locations, voice access, sharing files, Nearby Share, Cast, and more. There are also bug fixes, including a fix for Notepad not opening with a standard user account, and a fix for some compressed files that wouldn’t open.

EU PC users will get additional features, such as the ability to uninstall Windows apps and replace Bing as the search provider with Google. Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045.4116 has also been released to the Release Preview Channel with new features. Overall, the update will be minor for American PC users but significant for those in the European Economic Area.
