The gaming performance of a Reddit user’s AMD 5800X3D dropped after updating Windows 11 to the 2023 Update. They noticed a significant reduction in CPU performance in every single benchmark. The problem seems to be limited to AMD Ryzen CPUs and some Intel 13th-gen CPUs. After contacting Microsoft, the user received a response suggesting a fix. The fix involves resetting Windows Defender through PowerShell commands, enabling CPU virtualization in BIOS, and enabling Memory Integrity in Windows 23H2. The user confirmed that after applying the fix, gaming benchmarks returned to expected levels compared to Windows 11 22H2, and some GPU benchmarks even increased. If you’ve experienced CPU slowdowns after updating to the Windows 11 2023 Update, this fix should hopefully resolve the issue.
