Asus pushes laptop technology forward with stunning mini-LED and G-Sync OLED displays

The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas always brings exciting new features and technologies to the world of PC gaming. In 2024, Asus is leading the charge with their improved Mini-LED and OLED displays, setting a new standard for gaming laptops.

The Mini-LED display on the 2024 ROG Strix Scar 18 boasts an impressive 2,304 dimming zones, a significant upgrade over its predecessor. This places it in the same league as Apple’s MacBook Pro 16, known for its high-quality display. The increased number of dimming zones results in improved detail, nuance, and contrast in high-contrast scenes, providing a stunning visual experience for gamers.

In addition to the Mini-LED display, Asus is also introducing OLED displays in their new ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 laptops. These are the first OLED laptops to support Nvidia G-Sync, a major advancement for gamers. By working with Nvidia and Samsung Display, Asus has overcome the challenges associated with OLED panels, offering smooth motion and a crisp image with minimal blur.

The OLED displays on the G14 and G16 laptops deliver an essentially infinite contrast ratio and impressive color performance, spanning 100 percent of sRGB, 100 percent of DCI-P3, and at least 91 percent of AdobeRGB. Both models also have good brightness levels, with the HDR brightness hitting a maximum of 600 nits, the highest recorded from any OLED laptop so far.

Asus’ approach of offering both Mini-LED and OLED displays demonstrates their commitment to pushing display technology forward. The Mini-LED excels in HDR brightness and eliminates burn-in worries, while OLED provides deep black levels and precise per-pixel lighting. By introducing these innovative displays at CES 2024, Asus is setting a new standard for gaming laptop displays.
