AMD launched a modern 1080p graphics card at CES 2024. The Radeon RX 7600 XT sports 16GB of VRAM and is priced at $330, less than half the cost of such a card.
The 7600 XT is essentially an enhanced version of the Radeon RX 7600. It comes with double the VRAM, higher clock speeds, and a slightly higher power consumption. Additionally, the standard 7600 XT includes DisplayPort 2.1, whereas the 7600 non-XT allows GPU makers to equip it with either DP 1.4 or 2.1.

In terms of specifications, the 7600 XT is almost indistinguishable from its $270 counterpart. It shares the same core counts, ray accelerators, 32MB Infinity Cache, and AV1 encoding capabilities. The most notable difference is the 128-bit memory bus, which is the same as the 7600’s, despite the increased VRAM capacity.
Despite being marketed for 1440p gaming, the ultra-narrow memory bus could limit the Radeon 7600 XT’s potential. AMD’s presentation shows that it struggles to exceed 60 frames-per-second in 1440p resolution for current PC games, even with FSR 2 enabled in Starfield and Forza.
To address this issue, AMD introduced Hypr-RX, an optional feature in the Adrenalin Software suite. This combines Radeon Super Resolution upscaling, Radeon Boost, and Radeon Anti-Lag technologies to improve frame rates and game responsiveness.
Furthermore, the Radeon RX 7600 XT is equipped with FSR 3, AMD’s rival to Nvidia’s DLSS 3. The feature is available in 20 announced games and offers upgraded performance, albeit with potential minor image issues.
If 8GB of VRAM is insufficient, the Radeon RX 7600 XT provides a hefty 16GB buffer, catering to modern triple-A games’ high graphics requirements. This marks the first affordable 16GB graphics card of this generation, especially since Nvidia’s budget alternative, the 16GB RTX 4060 Ti, starts at $500.

AMD also emphasizes the card’s compatibility with generative AI applications, as it meets the minimum VRAM requirements for such processes.
The Radeon RX 7600 XT is expected to be available for purchase on January 24, priced at $330. Custom models will also be offered by AMD partners such as XFX, Sapphire, and Asus, with reviews expected to be released simultaneously.
