A Critical Look at the Thinkware F70 Pro Dash Cam: Underwhelming ‘Pro’ Performance

The Thinkware F70 Pro is a mixed dash cam experience. The $100 camera captures in 1080p, but many competing models now offer 1440p resolution. Additionally, the phone app doesn’t support Google Pixel phones, and GPS is only available as an optional accessory.

The F70 Pro is a front-only, 1080p, 30fps, 140-degree field-of-view single-channel dash cam. It has no display, using the phone app for viewing and configuration. The camera accepts up to a 128GB SD card and weighs only 1.49 ounces.

The captures from the F70 Pro are workable, with good processing and no tearing or jitter. However, the video quality is less detailed and there’s a certain fuzziness to the captures, especially at night.

Overall, the F70 Pro is easy to install and use, but adding GPS and an OBDII cable raises the cost to at least $160. There are better dash cams available for the price, such as the Garmin Dash Cam 47.
